Shrouding Practice: Kathryn Swanson's Fabric'sCool

Updated: Jul 31, 2021

I put together a short slideshow of still images from a video taped conversation between myself (in my Last Dance Shrouds hat) and Kathryn Swanson of Swanson's Fabrics in Turners Falls, MA. Our businesses connect in a delightful way.

The accompanying music: Johann Sebastian Bach, Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan, played by YoYo Ma.

The conversation was edited into a 3 part series of 'Fabric'sCool' episodes, produced by friends at Montague Community TV. We filmed in the lush green yard behind Sarah Strong's sewing studio on a particularly fine Spring day. We had a long and lively conversation about textiles and the history and practices of shrouding. You can hear the story of how Last Dance Shrouds came to be, and all sorts of good medicine about creativity and connecting. Kathryn gets shrouded (and lives to tell about it) in part 3.
